Came accross this website while browsing for commrades that served with me during my enlisted years. I was in the Army from 1940 to 1972, and served in England, Newfoundland, Halifax, Kingston, Shilo, Winnipeg, and Vancouver. Would love to connect with anyone that may be able to assist me in knowing more about locating any of these former pals. Lloyd Hunter, Captain Whitehead were among the individuals I was trying to find. Anyone serving between these dates in the RCEME. I am certainly enjoying this database that has been set up. In searching for military information on my grandfather, WO2 Harry A. Hutley, I came across your wonderful site. I am not sure of the exact dates but I believe Harry Hutley transferred to RCEME around 1943/44 and spent most of his military career in the unit. If anyone has remembers him and/or has pictures to share of him and comrades I would love to hear from you.

I LEFT THE CORPS IN 1986 AND HAVE BEEN BUSY RESTORING OLD JEEPS BACK TO THE ORGINAL FORM AS THEY LEFT THE FACTORY.THE CURRENT PROJECT IS A 1946 CJ2A. THE ONE PRIOR TO THAT WAS A 1952 M-38. Fantastic site. Recognized many of the names. I joined the RCEME Apprentices in Aug 1954 and spent two fabulous years in 5 Platoon. I left in Nov 1991 after 37 years, 238 days and a breakfast and joined Computing Devices Canada in Ottawa, transferred to Calgary Dec 1993 and retired July 2002. Take care, everybody. ARTE ET MARTE

I inherited my grandfathers belongings and I am going through his old wallet and I have found a Sergeants Mess card from 1951. It says membership card 8th Infantry Brigade Workshop. RCEME. I received a e-mail from a person in the Elliot Lake Ont. area whose husband found a brass zippo EME/GEM lighter, on the banks while fishing. The lighter still works, and had the horse and crown on one side, and on the other side it had wings with a sword and the letters OSONS and the initials SSF on it. I presume the first group of letters may be a unit, but it rings no bells with me. If anyone recognizes this unit or lighter please let me know and I will put you in touch with finder.
